Pictorial history of Lowery Ltd Profile

Power Supply Upgrades

In January 2004 Lowery Rail Division secured a Framework Agreement with SABCO, a consortium of EDF Energy (formerly Seeboard Contracting Services Ltd.) and Balfour Beatty Rail Projects Ltd working on behalf of Network Rail Southern Region. SABCO was responsible for the Power Supply Upgrades for the Inner London area. The SABCO contract formed part of the overall upgrade scheme for the provision of new power supplies and associated equipment for Network Rail's third rail traction power supply system. The Lowery Limited Framework Agreement was for the provision of cable routes and the installation of power and pilot cables. Lowery's work packages covered an area from Wimbledon to Lewisham. Work started in early 2004 and was completed in 2005. Lowery installed
  • 13,000 Metres of Concrete Troughing
  • 2,000 Metres of GRP Elevated Route
  • 2 No. 6 Way Under Track Crossings
  • 4 No. 10 way Under Track Crossings
  • 3 No. 20 Way Under Track Crossings
  • 1 No. 10 Way Under Road Crossings
  • 36,000 Metres of Power Cable
  • 12,000 Metres of Pilot Cable
  • Numerous other miscellaneous works
Lowery completed a critical phase of this project by working through extended route closure possessions only available during the Christmas 2004 and New Year 2005 period. Lowery worked closely with SABCO and Network Rail and spent in excess of 550 hours on preworks planning, to ensure the works were delivered successfully. All works were completed and track possession handed back on time.
