Lowery Limited was incorporated in August 1950 initially working for British Rail, the GPO and Pirelli Cables. Its largest
customer during this period was Pirelli, for whom it installed underground supertension cables on behalf of the Central
Electricity Generating Board (CEGB).
There followed a period of steady expansion in the 60's including the acquisition of the freehold site where its head office is now located. The 70's brought further growth through its relationship with Pirelli working in Belfast and extended activities with British Rail, CEGB and the GPO. Lowery Transport was formed in 1979 to meet the Lowery Group's haulage and waste management needs.
The 80's brought the start of the telecoms boom, and with British Rail now its major client, Lowery was successful in securing large tranches of communications cabling infrastructure works for the now British Telecom and Cable & Wireless - the latters works installed trackside of the railway network.
In 1992, Lowery's Directors identified a major opportunity with BT and were appointed one of their Main Civils Contractors, a relationship which continued for the rest of the decade. In 1998, Network Rail embarked on an HV Power Supply Refurbishment Program and Lowery, working in association with Seeboard (now EDF Energy), undertook the majority of the feeder replacement over the next five years. By 2000, Lowery's list of clients also included National Grid, Global Crossing, Thales, NTL, Energis & Marconi.
In 2001, the Lowery Group constructed a purpose built office in Heston, taking the opportunity to put in place a state of the art IT Infrastructure and Financial Accounting system. In 2003, Lowery secured its Contractors Assurance Case from Network Rail.
Lowery has the ability to handle both major project works and fast moving small repetitive civil works.
Lowery's current customers include Network Rail - HV Power Supply Feeder Renewals, Siemens - civil works and signalling cable, and Telent (formerly Marconi) - civil works framework agreement.
